Mini Closet Makeover

I'm slowwwly unburying myself from all of the chaos and clutter that was my "welcome home."

I had hoped to do touch-ups on the paint in my master, but with all of the "stuff" in there, it is next to impossible right now.

Because I had oodles of laundry to do and then clothes to put away, I figured that I might as well work on organizing my master closet.

We inherited a wire rack closet system that's pretty functional, but not the prettiest thing in the world.  I had hopes of ripping the wire racks out and putting in something more "California Closet ish" but because we've been on a role dropping G's lately, I figured I try and be a bit more frugal.  That means working with the existing wire rack system.

So where does one go when one needs to be frugal and somewhat stylish?  Target of course!

I filled my cart with all of the ClosetMaid stuff I could get my hands on and then got busy assembling and organizing.

Here's what our closet looked like before I got started:

And here's what it looks like now:

I found this pretty rug at HomeGoods for $12.99.  You can see our newly stained hardwoods too.

I added more shelving for my shoes

and tidied up Jake's clothes.

I swapped out our old mis-matched plastic hangers for maple ones for Jake

and velvet ones for me.

and added some more storage in the way of bright canvas bins.

These were such small and easy changes, but they make me so happy:)

My closet is now my favorite little hideaway from the chaos and clutter that is invading the rest of my house.  I want to live in it.

  1. I love it. I've been procrastinating organizing my closet for months now. I even love how your clothes are organized by color, making a pretty little rainbow. Oh, and target is my shopping enabler, I love that place.
