No more peeping, Tom

Y'all know that I'm in the middle of redoing my master bathroom. Things are coming along pretty well.  The newest addition is a window shade.  Yep, we've been sans window shade for about 1 year.  Seeing as our backyard faces a forest, one might not think that's a problem.  But there are hiking trails in the forest, and people walk on them, and sometimes I'm in the shower when they walk on them.  Those poor poor people.

But back to the window shade.  I pretty much knew that I wanted a natural woven material and I also knew that my window was not a standard size, so I would need to order something custom.  I've been receiving the Smith+Noble catalog because the previous homeowners shopped there and I came across a couple of options that I really liked.  I opted to go with the natural woven flat fold shade in fiji/barley.

I'm really happy with the purchase. The shade was delivered in 8 days and was super easy to install.  The price was a little steep, though.  It cost me about $200 bucks for this one shade.  Does anyone have suggestions for another place to shop for custom shades like this that may be a bit cheaper?  I don't mind splurging on one window, but doing a whole house would cost a fortune!

  1. Hi! Selectblinds.com is a great place to custom order shades! Plus they often run really good sales!

  2. Love the new shade. We have similar shades and they are great!
One thing: Be sure to check and make sure they are woven tightly enough that you can't still see. It isn't as big of a deal since you face woods BUT two of ours (in the bathroom that faces the street!) weren't very tightly woven so, at night, you could still some stuff. Yeah, we have curtains in there too now :)
