Dreaming Dream House

I love our home.  I really do.  I love the fact that it was born in the 70s and that I get to fix it up, modernize it, and put my own personal touch on it.  You may notice that I said "I" and not "we." That's because I'm blessed to have a husband who leaves pretty much all of the decorating/remodeling decisions to me.  I am also blessed to have such a wonderful place to live. BUT sometimes I do dream of building our dream home.  A home where we I get to choose every last detail.  If I could build that dream home today, I'd definitely have this tub in our master bathroom:

and beautiful french doors that open to a gorgeous patio and pool

and a dedicated "wine closet"

and coffered, beadboard ceilings and a fireplace in the kitchen

and an amazing sunroom with roof deck (I'd add a french door from the master bedroom so we could enjoy coffee out there in the mornings)

and a beautiful brick wall backsplash (love the range hood and stove too)

and this view wouldn't hurt either.

What about you?  What does your dream house look like?

  1. Um, yeah, I'm totally on board and if you even get this dream home I'll pack my bags for a visit! I love it, totally my style, traditional but open and light and with a view:)

    1. I'd love to have you visit, but I might need to steal some tips from you before I start work on it!

  2. You definitely ARE blessed to have a a husband who leaves all of the decorating to you! Randy (who I love dearly, of course) is the KING of questions, "you're going to do what?" "where are you going to put that?" "why are you moving that?". all.day.long.

And I would looove a wine closet like that!

    1. Hahaha. I can't even imagine Jake caring that much about what I do around here, but sometimes it would be nice to have a little input. Maybe then I wouldn't be painting my dining room for the 3rd time, lol!

  3. Ugh. Kevin doesn't let me do anything! It drives me crazy. You are a lucky lady! There are SO many things I would love in our home...definitely a stand alone tub similar to the one you picked or maybe clawfoot, love the idea of a wine room/cellar, steps to the beach would be pretty amazing, but I guess I would "settle" for a nearby lake or river!

    1. Ah, but I see you won out on the curtains in the nursery!! I would love a claw foot tub too and agreed that being steps to just about any ocean, lake, or river would be pretty cool!

  4. Yes that bath has just been added to my honey do list!
We are in the process of updating our home, and the possibilities are endless! However the budget isn't!
I'm like you I love to dream!
