What my house looks like

Jake and I jetted off to Florida last week for a 4 day mini vacation and to celebrate my 29th birthday.  It was a much needed sun-filled break and I'm back home feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle my list of projects...and oh, that list is long.

One of the things I've realized is that I have a really bad habit of starting a lot of different projects and finishing none of them.  Needless to say, the "before and after" posts on this blog have been few and far between.  There was my home office makeover that I did manage to start and finish and my master bedroom makeover (which is on the list to get redone again), but there are still a lot of unfinished projects (kitchen, half bathroom, guest bedroom, living room, den, dining room).  And of course, there are still those rooms I've yet to start work on (2nd guest bedroom, guest bathroom, sunroom, exterior).

Rather than make you wait months and  months to see some more "after" photos, I figured I'd do a little version of show and tell.  Starting next week, I'll pick a room in my house and share the good, the bad, and the ugly as well as all the fun ideas I have stored up in my head.  You can even weigh in and let me know if you think those ideas are a bad idea (I may or may not listen :)).

This is going to be really scary for me - like that first day by the pool in FL wearing my bathing suit sans tan.

Hopefully this will inspire you all to share pictures of your own homes even if they're not looking "perfect."   I've realized that my pursuit for home perfection will be life long.  There will always be things I want to change or improve, but in the meantime I want to try and be more thankful for my beautiful home and proud of what I've accomplished so far.  Who's with me?

  1. Found you from Decor and the Dog link up. Your house looks stunning, finished or not. I sometimes forget that I live in a real house, with a real toddler, and as much as I love to start projects, they need to be finished with in his nap time (or I never revisit them again). I finally made time to paint DIY piano Key curtains for the nursery.

  2. BTW, I love your sign : I love you blogs and coffee.

  3. Hi Jessica! I have been thinking about doing the same thing on my blog. Maybe you've given me the courage to show my horrible laundry room and my messy bedroom closet. I am IN LOVE with your home office!

  4. I think this will be great motivation to get projects crossed off your list! Your bedroom is so pretty….love that headboard!!

  5. I cannot wait to see everything!!

  6. Most of my house is still a mess. My husband and I have a deal that we work on one room at a time. And I'm not allowed to redo a room until the whole house is done. :\ Which sucks because I really want to repaint my master bedroom!

  7. We have been in our house over two years, and really the only room I have "finished" is the nursery! Maybe if I clean the house I can take some "right now" photos, lol. There is SO much I want to do, and I totally agree with you, the perfect home will be a life long pursuit!
