Bathrooms and Kitchens, Oh My! (Renovation Update)

Hey hey! Today I have a long overdue renovation update.  The construction work should be finished this week and then I can start putting the house back together.  I want to say a big thank you to the guys at  L&M Construction.  They have done a fabulous job on our home and they are always such a pleasure to work with!  If you're in the Southern NH or Northern MA area, definitely check them out.

Yesterday, a new pedestal sink and toilet were installed and the bathroom walls received a couple of coats of Benjamin Moore Rock Gray.

I decided to carry the beadboard above the countertop.  I'm contemplating adding either shelving or art between the two cabinets to break up some of the white. I had the cabinet pulls kicking around so we installed them, but they're not my favorite.  They will get swapped out at some point. I have a flush mount light fixture waiting to be installed in place of the lonely lightbulb.

The washer and dryer fit pretty much perfectly under the new counter.  I'm so happy that we decided to remove the closet.  The small space feels so much bigger now.

And of course, the hexagon marble floors are my favorite! They match really nicely with the gray tile we selected for the hall and kitchen.

Here's another shot of the new french door and the hallway with the flooring done and walls painted.  I chose Benjamin Moore Edgecomb Gray for the kitchen and hallway.  It's a great greige color that changes with the lighting and other nearby colors. It plays nicely with the Benjamin Moore Spanish Olive that we used to paint the den last year.

Here's the completed half wall.  I love how it opens up the space!

And here's a sneak peak of the kitchen with most of the cabinets done.  I chose Benjamin Moore Decorator's White for the cabinets.  It's a bright white with a little gray tint to it.

I can't wait to share the final product with you!

Bedroom Mood Board (Spring Trends)

I'm linking up to Design Your Dwelling's Mood Board Link Party.  If you haven't already joined in on the fun, hop on over and check it out!

I've been inspired by spring fashion trends lately.  It's a little hard to start thinking about spring clothes while we're still in the thick of winter, but they're already out in stores!  I couldn't resist and picked up a shirt in one of Spring's big trends - floral!

{Image from here}

Taking a cue from the fashion world, I decided to create a fun Spring-inspired bedroom that includes some of the latest trends:

1. Floral
2. Stripes
3. Brass
4. Color!

If you didn't notice, I'm on a huge coral and blue kick right ow.  I can't get enough of it!   If you're interested in a source list for any of the items in this mood board, follow me on Olioboard under username homewithbaxter.

Giveaway! (Fish Foam Window Cleaner)

Today I'm happy to offer a giveaway for you all!  Fish Foam, the makers of the premium foaming glass cleaner, asked me if I'd like to try their product for free.  Of course, I said "heck, yes!."  With two dogs with tongues at window height, my windows are always dirty!

I didn't expect much from the product, but I was immediately impressed with how easy it is to use.  Because it's a foam, you don't get that drippy mess that you do with other glass cleaners.

Simply spray the product on your window or mirror and it stays put for you to wipe it off.

A couple of quick wipes with a paper towel and the slobber was gone!

Fish Foam is also ammonia-free and doesn't leave those annoying streaks. I'm definitely impressed and will be using this product for my glass cleaning needs. Ya know...when I actually get around to cleaning things.

So who wants some FREE fish foam?  Giveaway ends 2/22!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Disclosure:  I was offered a free can of Fish Foam and asked to share my opinion of the product. I was not compensated for my time writing this post or for offering the giveaway.  All opinions are 100% mine.

Spring 2013 Pantone Colors

Life's finally returning to normal up here in the Northeast after the blizzard NEMO dumped over 2 feet of snow on us.  I love the snow, but 2 feet is a lot!  It has me dreaming of warmer weather.

What better way to start thinking about warmer weather than to look at this year's Pantone colors for Spring? Olioboard hosted a Spring 2013 Color Challenge and I joined in on the fun. The goal: Create a home decor design board using some (or all) of the Spring 2013 colors.

I put together a fun living space using tender shoots, poppy red, dusk blue, and emerald.
If you're interested in any of the items in this design, follow me on Olioboard @ homewithbaxter to see a complete source list.

In other fun news, Beth from Design Your Dwelling just started a fun weekly mood board link party!  Every Tuesday hop on over to Beth's blog to showcase your latest mood board and check out some other designs.  Talk about fun!

Tile Time

I wanted to drop in and give you an update on the renovations.  The tile is going in as we speak!  We chose a charcoal gray porcelain tile (Flint by floridatile) and had it installed in a staggered pattern.  We're carrying this tile throughout our kitchen, foyer, and a hallway.

With all the finish work still left to be done (like painting the kitchen cabinets white), it's a little hard to visualize the final product, but I'm really liking it so far.

In the half bath/laundy room we went with the Carrara Bianco Polished 2" Hexagon Mosaic Marble tile.  It's so shiny and pretty.

Half bath/laundry
The countertop going above our washer and dryer was installed as well as the bead board and some cabinets.  I'm thinking about adding some shelving between the cabinets.

Half bath/Laundy
The french door was installed as well.  I love all the natural light that floods in!

The custom pillar on our half wall is finished too - just needs a little paint!  We didn't end up having to go all the way to the ceiling with it which is great.

So that's about it for now.  Tile will be wrapped up next week then comes painting the cabinets and the finishing touches.
